The lone U.S. Marshal at a research station in Antarctica, Carrie Stetko (Kate Beckinsale) stumbles upon the continent’s first murder victim. With only three days left until the sun sets for six months, Carrie races to solve the complex mystery before darkness falls. Based on a graphic novel by Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber, this tense thriller also stars

Every wonder what would happen if a major studio decided to make a big budget special effects movie with a major star, but forget to write the script until the day of it was to begin shooting? Well wonder no more folks! Because what would happen is this movie.

All the elements are there for a great thriller/action movie. A smoking hot star (in this case, it’s for the guys in the form of Kate Beckinsale). A great premise (stranded in the middle of the no where with no escape) and a very big budget (the snow storm scenes are amazing here). So what went so wrong with this movie. I will tell you what. The script was written by third graders! There are way to many plot holes to list here, and saying some of them will give away most of the “suspense” of the movie for those of you who will actually watch it.

All the actors do a passable job with the material they are given, but that is not saying much given how awful the story is.

There are a couple good things to say about the movie. The scenery and depiction of Antartica is quite spectacular, including the final fight scene outside in the middle of a wind storm. but that does not make up for the completely laughable story and script.
